Summary
The 1st work presents the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, one of the finest preserved railway museums and one of the most beautifully scenic railroads in the United States. Visits the entire line from Chama to Antonito. The 2nd work presents the operations of 5 steam railroads in winter, including Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Heber Valley Railroad, New Hope & Iveyland, Nevada Northern, and Western Maryland Scenic. The 3rd work follows the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from Chicago to Los Angeles with footage shot just prior to its merger with the Burlington Northern. Among the places visited are Joliet Union Station, Crozier Canyon, Kingman Canyon and Cajon Pass. The 4th work presents Alaska's White Pass & Yukon route, built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush. The journey starts in Skagway in early May and climbs 3,000 feet to the summit of White Pass, moving among mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, and lingering snow
